Genetics and Breeding Laboratory
The activity of the laboratory is mainly focused on the breeding of thermophile tree species: peach, nectarine and apricot.

Objectives

Maintaining a national gene bank for apricot, peach and nectarine species.
Creating new varieties resistant against low temperatures and late spring frosts during blossom.
Zoning new varieties in favorable areas.
Genetic determination and study of heredity of main qualitative and quantitative characters.
Hereditary transmission of some physiological and biochemical characteristics phenotypically expressed which cause stress resistance.
Genetic proving of some breeding strategies.
Genetic control of tree characteristics and breeding correlated with the acceleration of bearing.
