Strawberry, Fruit Bushes and Dendrological Plants Laboratory
Objectives

Study of new created or imported cultivars of strawberry, raspberry, currant, blackberry and dendrological plants species in pedo-climatic conditions from south area of Romania;
Propagating qualitatively valuable cultivars with tolerance or resistance against specific diseases and pests;
Improving multiplication and culture technologies for dendrological plants having multiplication difficulties;
Creating new varieties of strawberry, fruit and decorative bushes through specific breeding methods in fruit growing and dendrology;


Results

Propagation of 8 varieties of strawberry, 6 varieties of raspberry, 10 varieties of currant and 2 varieties of blackberry in private and state farms;
Organizing a dendrological collection with 80 species of deciduous trees and conifers;
Improving multiplication technology by modern multiplication methods;
Obtaining new varieties and selections of strawberry, fruit and decorative bushes.


Performances

One selection of Thuja and Juniperus and 6 selections of deciduous trees and conifers proposed for registration;
Registration of two deciduous trees - Tonia and Ali - decorative by form, flowers and leaves (author: Dr. Eng. Antonia Ivașcu).
